For several years now, it has been possible to organize and manage one’s life online. Today, many people shop online, making monthly, weekly, or even daily purchases on the web. While it’s possible to find the love of one’s life online through dating sites, and to base one’s political campaign strategy on the internet, it’s also possible to do all one’s interior decorating there, including choosing curtains for the house.

With a wide range of curtains and a multitude of possible styles available, how do you choose your curtains ? And how do you choose them online?
The dual purpose of curtains
Curtains are a worthwhile investment. Why? They filter the outside air so you feel “at home” inside, and they filter the inside air so no one spies on you or makes you feel uncomfortable. Once you consider these two factors, you’re almost guaranteed to choose the right curtains for you. The only remaining risk is aesthetics. So, how can you maximize the usefulness of your curtains?
It’s important to know that the thicker the fabric and the darker the colors of your curtains, the more you’ll be protected from prying eyes, whether strangers or neighbors look out at your window. Unless you opt for black velvet curtains, in which case the opposite effect will occur, as you’ll be so enclosed and hidden that neighbors or even curious passersby will be intrigued. Conversely, the lighter the fabric and the lighter the colors, the less light and outside views you’ll filter.
For example, if you choose sheer curtains and, in addition, opt for the color cream or white, you will certainly benefit from daylight in the room where you are, but if you have a view, your neighbors will see your little home.
The ideal material is neither too thick nor too light, like suede blackout curtains which, as the name suggests, completely obscure your interior so you are not visible from the outside, but still allow daylight to filter through. Seeing without being seen—could anything be better?
What about aesthetics?
If you love patterns, you’re in luck because they’re very trendy. The advantage of choosing patterns is that they allow you to personalize your interior space and express your wildest passions.
If you love flowers, you can also opt for the very floral collections of Dominique Picquier, who skillfully blends tradition and modernity in her designs. Alternatively, Robert le Héros also offers models that are each more floral than the last, with a dominant purple hue.
As you may have guessed, vintage designs are also making a comeback for curtains, since flowers and other patterns were very fashionable in decoration in the 1970s.
